Mysterious California-based startup Faraday Future has quietly published a teaser image that might preview its very first car.
The teaser image was displayed during the Formula E race that took place this weekend in Long Beach, California. It shows the silhouette of a tall, crossover-esque model with a rakish roof line that’s vaguely reminiscent of the defunct Honda Accord Crosstour. Most of the car’s profile is hidden, but the image clearly showcases a flat floor that incorporates what looks like a battery pack.
The platform is believed to be an evolution of the Variable Platform Architecture (VPA) that underpinned the spectacularly futuristic FFZero1 concept that was unveiled at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES). Faraday explained the VPA can be modified to accommodate different wheelbase lengths, several different battery packs, and anywhere between one and four motors. In theory, it can spawn a full lineup of electric models.
Spotted by Autoblog, Faraday’s teaser wasn’t accompanied by a press release so it asks more questions than it answers. At this point we don’t know precisely what the model depicted in the sketch is powered by, when it will go on sale, or if it’s even a preview of an upcoming car. All we can say for sure is that it looks a lot more realistic than the FFZero1.
