The high-style coupe variant of Cadillac’s fine-handling ATS sedan is less than two months away from its formal debut.
According to an Edmunds report, the Cadillac ATS Coupe will bow in January at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
Few official details concerning the new Cadillac are available, but a prototype nabbed earlier this year by our spy photographers reveals that it will be less angular and slab-sided than its CTS Coupe cousin. A taller rear window will undoubtedly aid in rear visibility.
The sedan’s 272-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder and 321-horsepower 3.6-liter V6 will almost certainly be on offer, although whether the entry-level 202-horsepower will be available is not yet known.
Transmission choices will include a six-speed automatic and, for the turbo four only, a six-speed manual; all-wheel-drive will likely be optional as a foul weather-taming alternative to the standard rear-wheel-drive configuration.
Down the road, a high-performance ATS-V Coupe – potentially packing up to 500 horsepower – is expected.
Thus far, there have been no reports suggesting that a convertible version of the ATS is planned. Additionally, Cadillac has expressly stated that, following a tepid market response to the CTS Wagon, it has no plans to launch an ATS Wagon.
