Ron Burgundy reveals true feelings about Dodge Durango [Video]

November 23, 2013

Ron Burgundy may not know the meaning of ‘diversity’ or the origins of San Diego, but the fictional anchorman played by Will Ferrell sure can sell Dodge Durnagos.

Thanks to a series of ads starring Burgundy promoting the Durnago (as well as Anchorman 2), sales of the full-size SUV have shot up nearly 60 percent since the spots debuted in October. Moreover, it was recently revealed that Dodge paid nothing for the commercials, making the project seem like an even bigger home run.

However, Burgundy’s good will came to a screeching halt earlier this week when he appeared on Conan to promote his latest movie. When asked about the Durango, Burgundy said that it’s a “terrible car” and that the free one Dodge gave him “cracked in half” within the first four feet of driving it.

Of course the entire bit was tongue and cheek, but we’re sure there was some hand wringing at Dodge headquarters. There shouldn’t be much to worry about, though, as Dodge has improved upon the already impressive Durango for 2014 by adding new features like an upgraded infotainment system and a more efficient drivetrain.

Stay classy, Leftlane readers.
