The offering will reportedly be positioned above the current LS 600h L gasoline-electric hybrid, unnamed sources have told Motoring.
The hydrogen-powered luxury sedan is expected to be offered only in its long-wheelbase configuration, with a 295-horsepower electric motor and a driving range of less than 240 miles. It will be significantly less powerful than the V8 hybrid, but allegedly 440-pounds lighter.
The LS FCV is said to be visually distinguished by a pair of larger air intakes on the front end. It will reportedly hide one hydrogen tank under the rear seats and another in the trunk, while the fuel cell stack will be tucked beneath the front seats.
Buyers are expected to face a price tag north of $100,000 for the zero-emissions LS, which could be initially limited to Japan when it arrives in approximately three years.
