Teased for weeks, the Range Rover Sport SVR will finally be unveiled at a preview even for the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance on August 14. The Range Rover Sport SVR will also be joined in the Jaguar Land Rover tent by the U.S. production version of the Jaguar F-TYPE Project 7 and a limited edition Jaguar Lightweight E-type.
Boasting a 550 horsepower version of Land Rover’s supercharged 5.0L V8, the Range Rover SVR – which was developed by JLR’s newly minted Special Operations division – is said to be able to accelerate from 0-62 in 4.8 seconds. The hopped-up SUV can also hustle around Germany’s Nurburgring in a mere 8 minutes 14 seconds, which is said to be a world record for a utility vehicle.
The F-TYPE Project 7 and Lightweight E-type, of which just six examples will be built, were also created by JLR’s Special Operations unit.
Following its Pebble debut, look for the Range Rover Sport SVR to go on sale either later this year or in early 2015. The SVR will cap the Range Rover Sport model hierarchy with prices likely to stretch into the six-figure range.
