Built using technology gleaned from the company’s efforts in motorsports, the 2&4 is equipped with a modified version of the 1.0-liter V4 engine that’s designed to power Honda’s track-only motorcycles. The mid-mounted four-cylinder makes over 215 horsepower at 13,000 rpm and more than 87 lb-ft. of twist starting at 10,500 rpm, and it is bolted to a six-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Weight checks in at under 900 pounds, but Honda has not published performance specifications. However, the concept stretches 119 inches long, 71 inches wide and just 38 inches tall, dimensions that make it shorter from bumper to bumper than even Honda’s diminutive S660 roadster.
The 2&4 stands out from virtually all other single-seater race cars thanks to a cabin-less design with a floating seat that gives the driver the impression of riding a bike. It appears to a boast a track-inspired twin-spoke steering wheel and a heads-up display, but pictures of the cockpit aren’t available yet.
Similarly, Honda has not revealed what the future holds for the concept. It could be simply a wild design study, or it could signal the company’s intention to build an Ariel Atom-like sports car in the near future.
